GCR Inc. (GCR) is a leading software development and consulting firm that serves public sector clients through aviation, government, and energy technologies and real estate, community planning, and recovery services. We are growing and have an immediate need for a Business Analyst to join our team in Carson City, NV. Business Analyst General Responsibilities: * Lead the analysis effort with clients on custom software development projects * Analyze and formulate solutions to business problems * Build software prototypes and/or screen wireframes * Write functional and technical specifications for Developers * Present the results of analysis, application functionality, and solution design to clients * Work with the QA team to develop a testing strategy and test plans * Show initiative and speak up; successfully present to groups of people without stage fright * Challenge the status quo; dont just accept what is presented * Operate independently in a fast paced and demanding work environment where strong organization and multi-tasking skills are required Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience * Experience authoring software requirements and specifications documents such as Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications Documents (FSD), etc. * Must have experience with software that requires major customization- not just changes to a canned product such as large ERP systems, for example. * Worked on projects where client is completely external to the organization and the only corporate relationship with the client is through a contract * Experience working directly with external clients under contract, particularly fixed-price/fixed-scope * Proven work experience as a Business Analyst for custom software implementations, preferably with state government agencies * Must have managed User Acceptance Testing and taken a system live * Experience adhering to written contracts between the company and the client * Excellent client-facing and internal written and verbal communication skills * Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and multi-tasking skills * 5+ years of experience in business analysis, technical writing or solution design required * Excellent verbal/written communications and presentation skills required * Experience in consulting with clients on custom software development projects required * Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills * Ability to create project plans to communicate business analysis approach, deliverables, and estimates * Experience in presenting the results of analysis and application functionality to clients * Leadership skills, business acumen and ability to demonstrate to clients a complete command and understanding of the business needs, problems, issues, and priorities * Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Visio, Excel, Project * Must be adaptable, flexible, and creative. Must be able to visualize and communicate the end vision. * Not just track tasks from a high level but get down in the details, understand the problems, and come up with solutions * Bachelors Degree in a technical field * Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% GCR Inc. offers our employees a competitive compensation package.
