Unit Clerk Requisition ID: 137340 Department: 200131 General Surgical Unit T4 Facility: Renown Regional Medical Center Schedule: Full Time - Eligible for Benefits Shift: Night Hours: 1845-0715 Category: Clerical & Administrative Support Location: Reno, NV POSITION PURPOSE: This position is accountable to perform clerical duties, act as unit receptionist, coordinate unit/patient activities with other departments via proper use of the computer and telephone, maintain an orderly and efficient nursing station. The incumbent provides care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients; including their families/caregivers. This position does not provide direct patient care. NATURE AND SCOPE: This position has internal contact daily with personnel from all departments for the purpose of scheduling diagnostic tests and treatments, ordering diets, and requisition medical supplies. This position also has contact with physicians, nurses, visitors and patients. This position is further challenged to maintain accuracy in transcribing notes complicated by difficulty in reading the physician's orders; communicate effectively with different types of people; function efficiently under pressure and stress and be able to identify and maintain priorities; respond to simultaneous request from many people and remain courteous and tactful. The incumbent assists in procedures to facilitate the proper documentation of the patient care systems from pre-admission through discharge. The incumbent must be familiar with standard operating procedures in ancillary departments to schedule diagnostic tests and treatments without conflict. This position is responsible for the maintenance of unit supplies and interdepartmental communication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Requires the ability to read, write and speak Typing and basic computer skills preferred.
