Controller, Foundation is responsible for managing the cash and investments of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation in excess of $300 million dollars. The position is responsible for the financial, endowment and investment reporting for the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation and all related 501(c)(3)'s. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure the fulfillment of the fiduciary responsibility of the Foundation to the donors, Board of Trustees, University of Nevada, Reno and the Nevada System of Higher Education. This position is responsible for compliance with all federal, state, foundation, university, Nevada System of Higher Education requirements, standard practices and policies as well as ensuring financial reports accurately reflect the activity of 3,800 fund accounts within the organization. This is an executive position and demands the occupant be an experienced accountant, knowledgeable of not-for-profit organizations (preferably University Affiliated and/or Associated Entity) complex accounting standards and procedures, Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations, pronouncements from the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) guidelines. This position supervises both professional and classified accounting/finance staff. The position reports to the Associate Vice President, Finance & Operations/Treasurer of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation.
